What is Open shift ?

Red Hat OpenShift is an open source container application platform based on the Kubernetes container orchestrator for enterprise application development and deployment.

What is use of Openshift

Red Hat OpenShift is a Kubernetes distribution focused on developer experience and application security that’s platform agnostic. OpenShift helps you develop and deploy applications to one or more hosts. These can be public facing web applications, or backend applications, including micro services or databases.

What is OpenShift and how it works?

OpenShift is a layered system wherein each layer is tightly bound with the other layer using Kubernetes and Docker cluster. In this model, Docker helps in creation of lightweight Linux-based containers and Kubernetes supports the task of orchestrating and managing containers on multiple hosts.

Use Cases of Openshift.

  1. AIRBUS used Openshift to solve their challenge:

Challenge: Airbus is undergoing a transformation to offer services on any type of platform and provide on-demand access to software-defined infrastructure. The organization chose to create a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), using Red Hat OpenShift and other Red Hat technology but sought to improve in-house skills and internal integration for faster, more efficient development of cloud-native applications.

Solution: To build a path to faster application delivery with DevOps practices, The project used Open Practice Library foundational approaches to collaborative, iterative strategy and development to envision, plan, and begin building an initial prototype platform. Weekly review meetings helped participants hone the project roadmap and stay informed of progress.
